The Zombie Apocalypse Game - Devlog


Hey there,

welcome back to todays devlog video. Same as last week, I had a really busy week, but as always, this week I've managed to do some updates to the game. 

The 1st think I've done was finishing the support for the 1st person camera mode. After making the first person mode, I've started working on a way to kill the hostile entities. The easiest way for this seemed to be implementing a way to shoot.

I started with rendering a simple crosshair to the center of the screen. Then I've converted the it's on-screen coordinates to a ray in the 3D world using the same method that I've used at placing objects with the editor.  After this I've just made the bullet go in the direction of the ray and to make a gunshot sound when shot. 

After finishing with the shooting feature, I've decided to make a simple in-game menu, that you can open with the escape key and will have some basic functions like Resume the game, Quit to Main Menu, open an options panel or load and save the game.

This week I had only time to make the options menu work, because loading and saving the game I plan to add only later, when I'll have a clearer view about how should the save file be the most efficient. I've splitted the sounds right now into 2 categories, Music and SFX and made 2 sliders in the options menu that control each group individually.
