The Zombie Apocalypse Game Devlog 09 - Item and GUI update


Hi there!

Welcome back to this weeks devlog post. This time I've started with adding an inventory bar to the bottom of the screen, where you can switch between the selected slots with keys from 1 to 9. This inventory slot shows the first 9 item slots from the inventory that I've added back in the 3rd devlog.

After creating an inventory bar I've edited the shooting feature of the player, so he can only shoot if he has a gun in his hand. I've also created a way to drop the item that you hold and it appears in the world and rotates on the y axis while a the player doesn't come near enough to pick it up. To test these new features I've downloaded a free gun model and a gun icon. I've made them to be an item that appears in the world, so you can pick it up.

After this I've made it so the player can only shoot if he has bullets in his inventory. So I've done the same thing for the bullets that I did with the gun and placed some in the world.

This week I've also done some small modifications with the health, damage and armor system. Now the enemies and the player can have armor that decreases the damage. I've also made the damage to be a bit more random and now there is a minimum and maximum damage that can be caused.

The last thing I've added this week was a health indicator bar for the player. I've used the same type of bar as in the 7th devlog.
